ITC Hotels Mesmerizes With Excellent Durga Installations
ITC Royal Bengal and ITC Sonar are honored to present three spectacular installations during this Durga Puja: Kantha Durga, Chocolate Durga, and Recycled Durga. These installations pay tribute to Bengal’s rich artistic legacy and the exceptional skills of its artisans.
Bengali rural women have long been skilled in the exquisite technique of Kantha needlework, which brings the goddess Kantha Durga—a representation of Shakti—to life. This distinctive art form has developed to depict brief moments from daily life. The Kantha panels on show in the installation honor the talent and imagination of regional artists while telling holy tales and celebrating the holy Feminine. In keeping with ITC Hotels’ dedication to Responsible Luxury, this program works to protect the unique cultural character of our area.
The experts have created a magnificent chocolate-only Chocolate Durga, a wonderful mix of art and cuisine. 800 labor hours spread over 45 days were needed to complete this installation, which used 130 kilograms of chocolate. This delightful homage not only displays culinary creativity but shows their commitment to honoring regional customs in modern contexts.
The Durga installation, which emphasizes sustainability by bridging the gap between the “discarded and the divine” was curated by Kallol Bose and artist Sunil Pal. It reimagines the Devi using discarded materials. This piece, on show at ITC Royal Bengal, beautifully embodies their Responsible Luxury approach by transforming commonplace materials into symbols of reverence and beauty.
Come celebrate Durga’s legacy and everlasting spirit—a place where innovation and tradition collide.
