On May 10th, get ready for a double treat when “Chaalchitra Ekhon” releases on the big screen and hoichoi. A major milestone in the countdown to this cinematic adventure is the release of the official poster on April 22nd.

The multidimensional Anjan Dutt has skillfully crafted Chaalchitra Ekhon, which takes viewers on a nostalgic journey back to the 1980s and explores the origins of Mrinal Sen’s masterwork, Chalchitra. This unique film, which is a tribute to Anjan Dutt’s mentor Mrinal Sen as his protege, was expertly directed by veteran actor-director-singer Anjan Dutt. It will be released in a few theatres, including Nandan and Radha Studio, to provide audiences with a big-screen experience. At the same time, Bengalis living all over the world can watch it digitally on Hoichoi.

The film has been awarded with different awards like the Special Jury Award at KIFF for “Innovation in Moving Images” and the Best Actor Award for Anjan Dutt at the Dhaka International Film Festival.

Anjan Dutt will be seen as Kunal Sen (based on Mrinal Sen’s character), and debutant Sawon Chakraborty will be seen as the young Anjan Dutt, in the role of Ranjan Dutt. Bidipta Chakraborty will portray the role of the director’s wife.

Anjan Dutt said, “Mrinal Sen’s impact on Indian cinema is immeasurable. He didn’t just make films. He reshaped narratives, challenged conventions, and inspired generations of filmmakers. In addition to honoring Sen’s artistic genius, Chaalchitra Ekhon aims to spark a fresh appreciation for his lasting influence”.

The dynamic interaction between mentor and disciple, as exemplified by Kunal and Ranjan, is at the heart of the movie. They fight personal demons and social constraints while working together on a large-scale film project, and in the end, they find comfort in Kolkata’s rich cultural tapestry, which is enhanced by Neel Dutt’s musical creations.
