IVUS is a novel medical imaging method that produces high-resolution images of the coronary arteries by attaching an ultrasound transducer to the tip of a specially-made catheter. Because of this, IVUS provides vital information that standard angiography is unable to deliver. This information can be used to guide percutaneous coronary procedures and determine the degree of coronary artery disease, improving patient outcomes and lowering the risk of complications.
