Janab Firhad Hakim Graces 89th Annual General Meeting Of The Oriental Chamber Of Commerce
The Oriental Chamber of Commerce authorized by the Govt of India inaugurated its 89th Annual General Meeting for discussing important topics.
The Muslim Chamber of Commerce was started on 23rd September 1932 for protecting and promoting the minority business interest in India’s economic growth. The name of the chamber was changed to The Oriental Chamber of Commerce on 31st March. 1956.
Some of the topics that were discussed include:
- Memorandum to KMC
- Transport
- Housing
- Urban development and Municipal affairs
- West Bengal as a prospective investment destination
- Infrastructure development need
- India-Japan bilateral trade relation
- India-Australia bilateral trade relation
- Role of media and mineral resources of West Bengal
The occasion was graced by Janab Firhad Hakim, Hon’ble mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Hon’ble Minister in Charge, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs and Dept of Transport & Housing, Govt of West Bengal, H. E. Mr. Yamasaki Matsutaro, Acting Consul General, Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata, H. E. Mr. Daniel Sim, Acting Consul General, Consulate General of Australia in Kolkata and Dhruba Mukherjee, CEO of Ananda Bazar Patrika Pvt Ltd.
President Mr. Jahangir Biswas, Past President, Mr. Shoib Ahmed Faisal, and Mr. K. M. Salam, Secretary of the Chamber addressed the media on the various issues discussed at the meeting.
Mr. Jahangir Biswas was elected as the President of the Oriental Chamber of Commerce for the third term.
