The JDBI‘s Independence Day celebration this year was unique in that it placed a special emphasis on forgotten historical incidents.

Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, the institute screened two documentaries, India’s Finest Hour (about India’s triumph in the 1971 war that resulted in the establishment of Bangladesh) and Transfer of Power (about the Indian Independence Act), both of which were based on real video at the VMA post. Both movies present novel viewpoints on the Indian Independence Act and India’s triumph in the war of 1971. The film’s content is not included in the curriculum of Indian history courses.

These movies gave students a more in-depth comprehension of important historical moments, enhancing the celebration with a contemplative look back at India’s past.
