Journey of A Woman Dhaaki To Be Explored in Zee Bangla Serial Jamuna Dhaki
Zee Bangla has been breaking stereotypes with their various serials. The profession of a Dhaaki has always been male dominated. It is only recently that women have started to enter this profession. Keeping this in mind, Zee Bangla has come up with a new serial Jamuna Dhaki. The serial showcases the journey of a girl who takes up the male dominated job of a Dhaaki.
The story revolves around Gangapada who is a Dhaki by profession. He stays with his wife and daughter. Gangapada’s family survives through small earnings and finds it difficult to make ends meet. He lives in ‘Jontro Potti’, where various music instruments are made. He owns a small house and is in deep debt. To top it all his health condition starts deteriorating with suspected TB/ Cancer. Doctor advises him not to play Dhak.
After his wife’s persuasion Gangapadha agrees to take his daughter Jamuna to Kolkata where he is to play Dhak for the last time. Both father and daughter reach the venue where Durga Puja is being celebrated by a famous business family. Gangapadha is about to play the Dhak but faces severe chest pain and is not able to perform. Arati is about to begin and everyone waits for the beat of Dhak. Jamuna takes over her father’s role and plays the Dhak beautifully. Jamuna’s Dhak mesmerizes everyone present.
Sangeet is one of the family members who have just returned from abroad and falls in love with Jamuna at first sight. Sangeet decides to marry Jamuna without knowing her real identity. Everyone comes to know her truth and Jamuna is cornered.
The production house is Blues and the creative head is Snehashish Chakraborty.
Shweta Bhattacharya will portray the role of Jamuna. She has done shows like Tumi Robe Nirobe, Jwarowar Jhumko before. Rubel Das, Debjani Chatterjee (Hero’s Mother), Kaushik Banerjee (Hero’s Father) and Kanchana Moitra (Hero’s Aunt) will be seen in important roles in the serial.
The serial will air from 13th July onward, Mon – Sat: 7.30 PM on Zee Bangla.
