The trailer launch of the new series Julie was graced by director Aritra Sen, actors Paoli Dam, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee, Shruti Das, Gourab Chatterjee, singer Ujjaini, and others.

From a red-light district, Julie enters mainstream politics but encounters discrimination and stigma because of her past.

Aritra Sen offered insights into Julie’s personality, characterizing her as a woman with exceptional singing ability who is driven to overcome her past and leave her mark in politics.

Paoli was excited at the trailer launch of the series. “I chose to do this series because it is a complete entertainment package. I do not know what message is there in this series, but I know that the audience will be thoroughly entertained. I still remember we were shooting the series in extreme heat in 2024. After we gave one shot, we were all sweating so much. But this is such a series where we need to look glamorous. So again, we rubbed off the sweat, adjusted the makeup, and gave the next shot. It was one experience for all of us,” said the actress.

Shruti said, “I loved playing the character, and I am thankful to the director for giving me such a role. Though I will not reveal much about the character, I play the daughter of Sanjay Mitra, Reshmi Mitra. Kaushik Sen plays the role of Sanjay Mitra. I loved acting with Paoli di as well as the other cast members of the series. On the whole, it was an enriching experience”.

Paoli had earlier worked in the director’s series Kaali that was released on ZEE5.

When asked about the challenges she faced while portraying Julie, Paoli said, “My biggest challenge was getting decked up for the role. I gave the makeup artist forty minutes to complete the makeup. I do not like doing makeup much, and I love minimalist makeup. Hence, in this way, portraying Julie was a challenge for me”.

Nabarun Bose has composed the music for Julie. “Music plays an important role in the series. There are many songs in the series. When I first got the chance to compose music for the series, I thought of Ujjaini di as her voice texture matches with Paoli. Julie has many shades in her character, and one such shade is the musical side. Hence, music is so vital in this series”.

The series will begin streaming from 23^rd May only on Addatimes.
