KFC’s India Sahyog Extends Support To Local Food Businesses In Kolkata
KFC‘s India Sahyog program is starting its next chapter in Kolkata after successfully assisting local eateries in Bengaluru, Delhi, and Hyderabad. Through training modules in food safety & hygiene, customer service, profitability, and other topics, the program will work with 100 local restaurants and food establishments during this phase to assist them in business revival. The Food Safety and Training Certification (FoSTaC) program of the FSSAI was launched in 2020 in association with the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI). Its goal is to support 500 restaurants nationwide by the end of 2022.
According to Samir Menon, Managing Director of KFC India, “There are a number of small food businesses who still haven’t been able to bring their operations back to pre-pandemic levels as the pandemic slows down and the economy opens up. We want to offer these companies our assistance and aid in their recovery. A step in that direction is KFC’s India Sahyog, and in the last year, 300 restaurants in three cities have been successfully empowered as a result of this program. We now intend to offer pertinent instruction, information, and technical know-how to 100 food businesses located throughout Kolkata. In order to fulfill our promise to support 500 restaurants nationwide by 2022, we will continue to deepen our commitment and expand this program to more cities in the coming months.
Since many local eateries may not currently be aware of food safety standards and requirements, the program aims to increase training and build knowledge for them. The India Sahyog program will undoubtedly be helpful in re-instilling faith in customers who may still be wary of leaving their homes because there is so much to be done in the area of basic food safety & hygiene, especially in the post-COVID era.
Over 1500 street food vendors in 4 states received training on food safety standards thanks to a pioneering program developed by KFC India in collaboration with the FSSAI. Along with the State Food Safety Authorities, the company also launched a program to improve the skills of food safety officers.
