The poster and teaser of the upcoming Bengali film Kidnap was launched recently.

Present at the event was Dev, Rukmini Maitra, Chandan Sen, Savvy, director Raja Chanda, N.K. Salil and others.

The story of the film focuses on woman trafficking which is so rampant in many countries of the world. Dev is a popular Dj and Meghna is a photo journalist by profession. They meet each other at a pub where Meghna takes pictures of an illegal activity. When she is attacked by the goons, Dev saves her. Love blossoms between the two. She is kidnapped by the gang. What happens next?

Savvy has created the background score of the film while Jeet Gannguli has composed the music of the film. The choreography is by Baba Yadav.

Savvy mentioned that it was a pleasure to work with Dev again. “While working with him is a great thing, it also raises the tension as you get equal amount of scolding too. Like in any other film, the background score is important. The same is true for Kidnap too” said Savvy.

Dev mentioned that he and Surinder Films has a long association as they have worked in many films like Paglu, Mon Mane Na and so on. “We have been planning for one and a half years to do a film together. We did not want to repeat the kind of films that we have already done. We wanted to do something new. So when I used to go around in Kolkata, I saw missing girl written on walls. That intrigued me. I read about many such stories in news papers. And that is how we came up with the idea of this film” said Dev.

Dev also mentioned that when budget is a huge factor in producing a film, Surinder Films have been extremely lenient and they have shot as per the demands of the script.

Rukmini who plays the role of Meghna in the film said that she had observed photo-journalists during press conferences to prepare herself for the role. She also mentioned that her dreams of wearing make-up for a film, doing romantic scenes in the desert were all fulfilled with this film. “However after all the scenes were done, they asked me to wipe the make-up and shed tears for a scene. So I was back to square one again” said the actress with a broad smile.

The first song of the film will be released on 20^th April, Dev announced. He also mentioned that the audience will again feel the magic of a Jeet Gannguli song when the song will release.

When asked who she will kidnap if given the chance, Rukmini said “I will kidnap Dev for a day as he is always busy with his works”. Dev on the other hand mentioned that he will want to kidnap the best wishes of the audience.

The film has been produced by Surinder Films Pvt Ltd.

The film is eyeing for release on Eid.
