Kiran Dixit Thacker’s Excellent Works On Display At Glimpses Of Santiniketan


Glimpses of Santiniketan is a solo exhibition of Kiran Dixit Thacker’s paintings and sculptures. This was inaugurated at the Birla Academy of Art and Culture.

It was inaugurated in the presence of Kiran Dixit Thacker, Jayanta Sengupta, Director, Alipore Museum, Mrinal Ghosh, art critic and author, and Pankaj Panwar, Professor of Kala Bhavana Santiniketan.

Kiran Dixit Thacker is the only living female student of Ramkinkar Baij. She is 78 years old and loves to work with metal, clay, and stone.

She finished her diploma in fine arts in 1969 from Santiniketan and then went to England. She lived and taught craft design for more than 30 years. She came back to India in 2000. It was then that she began her career as an artist.

She has a great array of work that consists of sculptures and drawings.

More than 60 of her amazing works are on display at this exhibition.

Despite her traumatic personal life, the artist’s work showcases positivity. Her work is majorly figurative. Santiniketan and its great surroundings are the start of her creative activities. Simplicity is something that is dominant in all her works displayed at the exhibition.

The exhibition will continue till 6th April, from 3 pm to 8 pm.
