Know About The Newly Elected Office Bearers Of CII
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), West Bengal State Council, organized its inaugural meeting to announce the newly elected office bearers for the year 2024-25.
The council will be headed by Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Managing Director of Tata Steel Downstream Products Limited, who has been elected as the Chairman. Under Mr. Kumar’s direction, the council will enjoy hitherto unheard-of levels of growth and development. Mr. Kumar has over thirty years of invaluable expertise inside the Tata group. With his broad experience in general and commercial management and his deep knowledge of the steel sector, he is well-positioned to drive advancement.
Mr. Debashis Dutta, the Director of BGS Group, who was chosen to serve as Vice Chairman, will accompany Mr. Kumar on his journey. Mr Dutta offers a plethora of experience to his position from a long career spanning decades in international freight forwarding, logistics, and customs brokerage.
A comprehensive agenda that included numerous projects, goals, and activities aimed at promoting sustainable economic growth and development in the area was given during the CII West Bengal State Council meeting.
The importance of MSME growth was one of the main topics of conversation. The council suggested programs including training courses in association with Academic Centres of Excellence (COEs) and helping MSME stakeholders to become more productive to increase industrial production.
Another important theme that came up was sustainability, which reflected the council’s dedication to encouraging eco-friendly business practices. Plans for publications and reports on MSMEs’ readiness for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues were revealed, emphasizing the significance of incorporating sustainability into daily operations for long-term growth.
Consistent with the worldwide movement towards digitalization, the council emphasized the importance of adopting technology to augment efficiency and competitiveness. As essential elements of the digitization plan, proposed workshops targeted at giving MSMEs the tools they need to do business internationally, utilizing statistical techniques to boost productivity, and explaining the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Act were emphasized.
The council also unveiled several special initiatives aimed at addressing particular issues and problems in the area. These projects included a wide range of topics, including the development of a handicraft cluster in Jhargram, research cohorts between industry and university, and programs that empower women by enhancing their livelihoods and developing their skills.
Through the alignment of these programs and goals with its overarching vision, the CII West Bengal State Council hopes to establish an ecosystem that promotes creativity, diversity, and adaptability, thereby establishing West Bengal as a hub of global competitiveness by 2030.
