Kobitay Kathalap Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Sreetamaa Samman
Independent art form Kobitay Kathalap began its 10th Anniversary celebrations, with “Sreetamaa Samman”. The honor was awarded to the talented and successful mothers who have set a benchmark as successful professionals.
The recipients of the First edition of Sreetamaa Samman were Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairman, Techno India Group, Nilima Ghosh, Advisor, Nakshi Creations, and Sanjukta Bose, Co-Director, IIHM. Eminent Danseuse Alokananda Roy was the guest of honor during the program and also the recipient of Sreetamaa Samman.
Kobitay Kathalap, according to Chandrima Roy, aims to revive the ancient art form of ‘kathokatha’ by presenting various story-based productions that include poetry as a key ingredient as well as Indian classical instruments and dance forms. She chose Mother’s Day to kick off their ten-year anniversary celebrations, which have recognized the contributions of four well-known mothers from various walks of life. The award is named after an 11-year-old girl who was close to the organization and died last month.
A panel discussion on “Motherhood Was Never A Cake Walk” was organized where renowned author and scriptwriter, Paromita Ghosh Majumdar and Brand strategist, Sudarshana Ghosh shared their experiences as single mothers. Ace Rabindrasangeet singer Srabani Sen mesmerized everyone with her musical renditions.
