In partnership with the internationally recognised Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), Netherlands, SPK Jain Futuristic Academy celebrated a significant milestone in the city’s educational history by launching Kolkata’s first Montessori Teacher Training Centre. The academy’s dedication to experiential, application-based learning and its goal of empowering teachers at the local level were both honoured at the launch event.

Principal Jayeeta Ganguly welcomed dignitaries and guests and emphasised the value of experiential learning in early childhood education. She said, “This is not just about a launch. It is about realising our goal of building a future with free-thinking, compassionate citizens. Our vision of a futuristic school questions social norms and inspires students to think critically. We work to develop people who value tolerance, acceptance, perseverance, and personal development. Our school’s philosophy of fostering independence, curiosity, and critical thinking is strongly aligned with the Montessori method”.

Ms. Kamini Kapur, an Elementary Director of Training (6–12 years) with AMI accreditation, shared her insights at the event. According to Kamini Kapoor, teacher preparation is vital to students’ education. She highlighted the fundamental role that qualified teachers play in forming young brains. As she put it, education is transformation rather than just the dissemination of knowledge. And for that change to be significant, educators need to be adequately prepared, empowered, and trained.

Ms. Aparna Iyer, Associate Trainer for AMI 3–6, also graced the event. Since 2006, when she first started working with children in Ghana, Aparna has led AMI orientation programs all over India. She is enthusiastic about bringing Montessori to isolated regions of the nation and works as a National Examiner for AMI Primary courses.

Ms. Ann Dunne, a highly regarded AMI trainer and consultant with decades of Montessori experience and a strong interest in Indian education, also attended the event. Her presence gave the event a more international feel.

Principal Jayeeta Ganguly gave a heartfelt vote of thanks at the end of the event, thanking the faculty, trainers, and distinguished guests for helping to make this vision a reality.SPK Jain Futuristic Academy reaffirms its commitment to high-quality education and international cooperation with this innovative training facility.
