“Lady Chatterjee Will Break Stereotypes About Detectives”- Arunima Ghosh
Camellia Productions organized the mahurat of their next venture Lady Chatterjee in the presence of the cast and crew of the film.
The film is directed by Sagnik Chatterjee.
The director said “I wanted to break the stereotypes revolving around detectives. Most of us think that they are the epitome of goodness. But they are also flesh and blood human beings and they have their set of flaws. This is what I have tried to highlight with the character of Lady Chatterjee. She takes drugs and hence she solves cases to earn money for drugs. There is no back story that is mostly present in many films”.
The cast of the film consists of Arunima Ghosh, Debasish Mondal, Alivia Sarkar, Souman Bose, Tathagata Banerjee, and others.
Arunima Ghosh who had been a part of many detective films will be seen in the role of the female detective Lady Chatterjee or Yajnaseni. “We associate many good qualities with a detective but she is just the opposite of what you would normally expect from a detective. She is moody, cranky, and takes drugs. At first look, people will think she cannot solve her own life issues. How will she solve the problems of others? However, she is serious with her work” said Arunima.
The actress who had wanted to play a detective for a long time confessed that her long-cherished dream was finally fulfilled.
She also confessed that she did not have any reference point for playing this character. All the detectives she could think of were sorted individuals. But this lady is cranky. So that makes her interesting and she had to portray her in her own way. Moreover in real life, she is not rude and does not have smoking or drinking habits. So that was challenging for her.
Debasish Mondal said “I will be seen in the role of DCP Abhijit Roy. He is a bright police officer who is given a case to solve. There are several hurdles that the police face that makes it difficult to solve the case. It is then that he takes the help of Lady Chatterjee to solve the case. I am excited at the fact that this is a lady detective and this will showcase today’s times. The audiences will be able to relate to it very much. Feluda and Byomkesh are classics but we have to unearth more detectives so that the audiences can connect with them”.
Alivia Sarkar will be seen in the role of Sauraseni, the sister of Lady Chatterjee. The actress said “I and my sister investigate the cases together. She is cranky and I am the opposite of her. The audience will be thrilled as they will get to see two female detectives at work in this film. It will be a different experience for them for sure”.
The shooting of the film will start on 22nd July.
