At a grand launch event in Kolkata, Mahindra Electric SUVs, in collaboration with NR Autos, formally introduced Mahindra‘s two electric SUVs, the SUV 9S R7XO and Mahindra XEV 9S. The city’s critical significance in Mahindra’s electric transportation strategy was highlighted by its inclusion in the company’s simultaneous pan-India announcement.

With its cutting-edge electric technology, sophisticated design, and future-ready performance catered to Indian consumers, the introduction represented a critical turning point in Mahindra’s quest to redefine sustainable mobility.

The Kolkata unveiling was graced by actress Ishaa Saha, Rahul Kamani, Managing Director, NR Autos, Subrata Banerjee, Director, NR Autos, Sunit Choudhary, General Manager, NR Autos, Sihabuddeen KM, Area Sales Manager, MEAL, Saumya Shekhar Singh, ASM – West Bengal & Sikkim, Debasish Saha Roy, RSBM, MEAL, and Joysubho Mukherjee, Regional Manager – Channel Development, Mahindra & Mahindra.

Built on the cutting-edge INGLO electric-origin architecture and driven by Mahindra’s MAIA intelligence platform, the Mahindra XEV 9S was introduced as the first real electric seven-seater SUV in India. The car had an IDC-certified operating range of up to 500 km and a high-capacity battery option of up to 79 kWh, which produced performance output of up to 180 kW and 380 Nm of torque. With a DC fast charger, the battery’s quick-charging capability allowed it to charge from 20% to 80% in about 20 minutes. Its performance characteristics were highlighted by its top speed of 202 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in around 7 seconds.

A 50:50 split third-row seating arrangement, a 10-meter turning circle for improved maneuverability, and segment-leading cabin space of 4,076 liters, a boot capacity of up to 527 liters, and a 150-liter front trunk were all features of the XEV 9S, which was designed for maximum comfort and spaciousness. The SUV’s i-Link front suspension, 5-link rear suspension, and clever adaptive dampers provided a smooth and composed ride.

The XEV 9S’s safety and technological features included seven airbags, the Driver and Occupant Monitoring System (DOMS), VisionX augmented reality head-up display, Secure360 live view and recording, and Level 2+ ADAS supported by five radars and a vision camera.

Three 31.24 cm digital screens, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio with Dolby Atmos, 5G connectivity, digital key and NFC entry, AutoPark Assist, and several smart climate modes all improved the in-cabin experience.

Powered and ventilated front seats, powered boss mode in the second row, acoustic laminated glass, ambient lighting with LiveYourMood modes, and wireless charging for both front and back passengers were among the comfort features.

By fusing dramatic SUV style with cutting-edge electric drivetrain technology and a strong emphasis on comfort, safety, and daily usability, the SUV 9S R7XO further enhanced Mahindra’s electric offering.

The SUV included a cutting-edge digital cockpit, connected car technologies, luxurious amenities, adjustable seating, and improved ride comfort tuning.

Multiple airbags, electronic stability and traction control, sophisticated driver aid features, and parking assistance technologies were among the safety features that made it ideal for long-distance and urban commuting.

Customers, media, and auto enthusiasts enthusiastically attended the event, demonstrating Kolkata’s growing interest in electric transportation solutions. Mahindra reiterated its goal of creating a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable future for Indian mobility with the launch of the SUV 9S R7XO and XEV 9S.
