The nation’s top on-demand convenience platform, Swiggy, announced the introduction of Swiggy UPI, including the UPI Plug-in solution from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to give users a quicker in-app payment experience. Thanks to this connection, users may now pay using UPI in only one step instead of five by completing transactions inside the Swiggy app.

This new feature, which is made possible by Juspay’s HyperUPI Plugin, greatly simplifies the payment process by doing away with the requirement to reroute users to other UPI apps.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in April 2024 that India had logged almost 131 billion UPI transactions. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is pushing more organizations to include UPI services as the system becomes more and more popular.

Swiggy made this decision to increase efficiency and reduce transaction times. Swiggy UPI offers a streamlined and enjoyable user experience by eliminating the redirection to third-party apps, reducing transaction time from more than 15 seconds to just 5 seconds.

Swiggy’s Head of Revenue and Growth, Anurag Panganamamula, said, “We are thrilled to present our UPI experience to our clients. This innovation is in line with Swiggy’s goal of providing customers with unmatched convenience as UPI becomes one of the most popular payment options. We are optimistic that this innovation will greatly improve the user experience on Swiggy by greatly streamlining the transaction process and lowering the number of unsuccessful payments.

How to set up Swiggy UPI

Customers can go to the app’s payment page and choose Swiggy UPI to finish the one-time setup process that links their bank accounts. After this setup, they won’t have to enter this UPI PIN again, which will speed up transactions.

Additionally, the in-house plug-in experience will notify clients immediately of any problems that may arise throughout the payment process, such as inadequate cash, wrong credentials, or technical difficulties, enabling them to take appropriate action and complete their payments.
