Acropolis Mall organized a Mango eating competition at its Mango festival titled “Mango Mania”. Mango Mania started on 29^th June and will continue till 3rd July from 12 noon to 9 pm daily. The aim of the festival is to create an amazing experience for guests with an array of delectable mango delicacies.

Soumitra Ray, eminent singer and the lead vocalist of noted Bangla Band Bhoomi graced the occasion along with Mr. K Vijayan GM, Acropolis Mall.  Children from Universal Smile, a residential NGO for street children participated in a fun-filled mango eating competition.

On the occasion, Mr. K Vijayan, GM, Acropolis Mall, a Merlin Group of Company, and Soumitra Ray presented educational stationery and essential food items to the children of Universal Smile on behalf of Merlin I am Kolkata, the CSR wing of Merlin Group.

The unique aspect of this year’s mango festival is the involvement of farmer interest groups and self-help groups for women in the mango craze. Many self-help organizations for women and farmer interest groups have taken part in this event, bringing a variety of food items, including mango squash, mango cakes, and mango tea. A variety of Malda mangoes and sweets with mango as an ingredient have been displayed by brands like Chaiolic and the classic sweet brand Nalin Chandra Das and Sons.

Julie SHG, Apayan SHG, and Dalia SHG are the three self-help groups at the mango festival. All of these SHGs’ products are made by economically and socially disadvantaged women who live below the poverty line. These SHGs create all wholesome and hygienic goods and sell them, enabling them to sustain their own way of life. These women also put an emphasis on training and skill development that enables them to sustainably use their skills. A farmer interest group by the name of Krishna FIG focuses on generating livelihoods and fresh and organic farming while serving the needs of the farmers and selling organic fruits and vegetables to its vendors at the exact price. Mangoes are purchased directly from farmers.

A plethora of tangy and delectable dishes like Mango pickles, Mango oil, Aam kasundi, Mango Dahi, Mango chocolate, Mango cake, Mango sandwich, and Mango tea. Desserts and sweets with slices of mango are also available.
