Manipal Hospitals Honors Women For Their Special Achievements

Manipal Hospitals Kolkata celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with a special celebration honoring inspirational women from a variety of backgrounds, with stories of bravery, leadership, and survival taking center stage. The gathering of female leaders, medical professionals, and patient survivors provided a forum for acknowledging accomplishments, sharing individual experiences, and promoting increased awareness of women’s health and well-being.
The hospital honored notable women in a variety of fields for their outstanding contributions to society on this special day.
The honourees included Jessica Gomes Surana, Principal of Birla High School Mukundapur, Neha Singh and Roohie Singh, Lieutenant Colonels (Dr) from the Indian Armed Forces, Smita Roy Chowdhury, Editor of a leading entertainment supplement published by a renowned newspaper, and Dr. Anjana Malhotra, Principal Chief Medical Director at Central Hospital, South Eastern Railway, Kolkata.

The celebration also included a thought-provoking panel discussion in which the female leaders discussed the difficulties that women encounter on a daily basis. Workplace stability, the need for inclusive workplaces, mental health issues, and the ongoing pressure on women to strike a balance between their personal and professional obligations were among the topics of discussion.
Attending the event, physicians from several Manipal Hospital units throughout the city congratulated the female leaders on their contributions to society. Experts from orthopaedics, oncology, nephrology, gastroenterology, neurosurgery, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, and the Broadway, Dhakuria, EM Bypass, Mukundapur, and Salt Lake units attended the event.

The celebration was made even more poignant and inspirational by honoring female patients who have courageously overcome significant health obstacles. The survivors’ inspiring tales of bravery, resiliency, and healing inspired many. The survivors who graced the event were Amrita Mukherjee, who received treatment under Dr. Abhinibesh Chatterjee and Dr. Polly Chatterjee at Manipal Hospital Salt Lake, Suchismita Mukherjee, who underwent treatment for gynaecological cancer under the care of Dr. Arunava Roy at Manipal Hospital EM Bypass, and Monita Gurung Chettri, who has been undergoing treatment for kidney disease under Dr. Upal Sengupta at Manipal Hospital Dhakuria.
Manipal Hospitals Kolkata reaffirmed its dedication to honoring women who inspire society and to advancing awareness and easily accessible healthcare for women at all stages of life through this celebration.
