International Copper Association India (ICA India) in partnership with Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) and Chief Electrical Inspector (CEI) organized a media briefing session on raise awareness on electrical safety at homes and workplaces in Kolkata.

Santanu Mukherjee, Sr Electrical Consultant, Anjan Mitra, Manager, CESC and others graced the occasion.

There is a growing increase in the number of electrical accidents. This is due to negligence followed in safe electrical practices, weak installations using inferior quality wires and so on.

The experts discussed that due to lack of awareness and knowledge the people were using inferior quality wires or doing something wrong while handling the electrical appliances. This is leading to electrical accidents. The customer needs to be aware that proper maintenance is required so that one can use the electricity properly.

With such awareness drives, one can hope that electrical hazards will decrease in Kolkata as also in the country.
