The screening of director Palash Dey’s film Asukhwala-The Pain Hawker was graced by the director and the cast of the film.

The story revolves around Rudra Mondal who constantly travels to the area between birth and death and runs a medicinal store. Rudra and Mishti are receiving treatment for their infertility. Mishti eventually becomes unwell. The medicine often expresses human emotions like sorrow, love, lust, and occasionally even protests against Rudra. They even choose to administer the patient’s care how they see fit. Rudra grows weary and impatient with himself for being so helpless. The sudden death of a customer forces him to keep his store closed due to the pressure of the situation. What happens next?

The director said “Medicine is a character in the film. Like human beings, medicines also have their likes and dislikes. We have not shown medicines as physical entities. Rather the script has been written in a way so that the audience can understand it. This is the main USP of the film. Rudra Mondal played by Sayan runs a single-counter medicine shop. His wife is Mishti. Medicines chose him and thought that they could talk with him. what happens next?”

The director himself owns a medicine shop. And that has given him some real-life ideas about what he wants to show in this film.

Sayan Ghosh plays Rudra Mondal in the film. “I have learned a lot about medicines after doing this film. However, I will self-medicate myself and not advise others to do that. Shooting the film was a great experience as the team was very friendly”.

Sneha said that she had known the director for a long time and the film’s story attracted her. Hence she said yes to the film. “Sayan is a great co-actor and I had a blast shooting the film. He is extremely knowledgable” said the actress.

The cast of the film consists of Medicine, Sayan Ghosh, Sneha Chattopadhyay, Amit Saha, Subhajit Bakshi, Papiya Say, Shyamal Kumar Dey, Diganta Saha, Titas Bandopadhyay, Piu Mondal and others.

The music of the film has been composed by Mayukh-Mainak.

The duration of the film is 1hr 27min 46sec.

The film is running at different theatres in Kolkata.
