Mission Smile Offered Free Cleft Lip Corrective Surgeries To Children And Young Adults
As part of the Swasthya Sathi Scheme, Mission Smile, an 80-G and FCRA registered medical charity, provided free cleft lip and cleft palate corrective surgeries at Narayan Memorial Hospital in Behala starting in July 2022 to children and young adults living in and around Kolkata and the surrounding suburbs. In order to care for children born with cleft malformations, Mission Smile and Narayan Memorial Hospital collaborated for the first time in Kolkata under the Swasthya Sathi Scheme. Surgery was performed at Narayan Memorial Hospital.
The start of this partnership started in the form of a mini-comprehensive medical to provide 20 safe surgeries on the 8th and 9th of July 2022 followed by regular surgeries on patients sourced by the program team with the help of the NHM to locate these little children born with Cleft.
Mr. Conrad Dennis, COO of Smile Mission, Dr. Manish Mukul Ghosh, Plastic Surgeon, Mr. (Prof) UjjalKesh & Ms. Suparna Sengupta, CEO of Narayan Memorial Hospital were present on this occasion.
Mission Smile has provided 7000+ cleft surgeries in West Bengal so far through 17 medical Missions and regular Centre activities in Kolkata.
