Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park’s Durga Puja inauguration was done in the presence of Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Member of Parliament, Tapas Roy, Hon’ble MLA & President NKDTMC, Nayna Bandyopadhyay, MLA, Vivek Guta, MLA, Smita Bakshi, Ex MLA, Sanjay Bakshi, Ex MLA, Shagufta Parveen, Councillor, Rehana Khatun, Councillor & Borough Co-ordinator, Manoj Poddar, Chairman of Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park and many other eminent personalities.

The theme this year is Vaccination Wins Over Corona.

The Durga Puja at Mohammad Ali Park was shifted to the adjacent Central Avenue Fire Station after the wall of an underground reservoir collapsed in 2019. The puja was again restored back in the park this year.

If 2020 was about Covid-19 infection, 2021 is all about vaccination that is the only weapon against the disease. So, this year, the puja committee attempted to propagate the importance of vaccination from the Puja premises. The theme will revolve around prevention against a pandemic and will specifically explore the significance of vaccination.

Mohammad Ali Park stunned the city last year by replacing the traditional idol of Mahishasura with that of ‘Coronashura’.

Visitors will not be allowed inside the park but will have to get a glimpse of the Puja from the road. The goddess there can be seen very well from a distance of 15 feet.
