Narayana Superspeciality Hospital Conducted Two Successful Kidney Transplants
Narayana Superspeciality Hospital conducted two successful kidney transplants on 3rd and 28th July 2019. The kidney recipients are residents of Bihar and Howrah. A press conference was organized to spread awareness about kidney transplantation and also about chronic kidney disease and how it can be averted in the presence of doctors and the two patients.
Dr Bismay Kumar, Consultant Nephrology, Dr Sharmila Thukral, Consultant Nephrology, Dr Abhay Kumar, Consultant Urology, Dr Rajesh Loonia, Consultant Urology and Subhasis Bhattacharya, Facility Director, NSH graced the occasion.
Chronic kidney disease is a major health concern in India. It has been found that this affects more than eight million people. Most patients come to the doctors in the last stage and saving them becomes a problem at times. With awareness about keeping the kidneys in a good condition and maintaining healthy habits, are some of the ways in which one can stop kidney problems.
The first Live Related and second Renal Transplantation was done by NSH, Howrah independently.
The doctors highlighted on the fact that since there is a huge demand for kidneys among the patients, awareness must be brought about among the people about donating kidneys too. Not much people are interested in donating organs and that poses problems when getting a donor. So this must be addressed and changes are required to save the lives of many people who need kidneys.
