NCSM Organized An Amazing Yoga Demonstration At Science City

The National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), which is part of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, organized a large-scale synchronized yoga demonstration at Science City, Kolkata, on June 21, 2025, beginning at 6:00 a.m. as part of the Yoga Sangam initiative. Following the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), the event started with a live broadcast of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebration across the country, which was hosted by Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

In addition to over 100 NCC cadets from NCC 33 Battalion, participants included representatives from NCSM, the Central Research and Training Laboratory (CRTL), and Science City, Kolkata. Renowned yoga instructors Mr. Sanjay Manna and his team, along with Mr. Abani Dey, led a thorough yoga session after the initial demonstration. They explained the scientific advantages of various asanas, pranayama techniques, and meditation practices for the body and mind while demonstrating them.

Ms. Soma Biswas, the Arjuna Awardee, was the Chief Guest and graced the program. “Yoga is a powerful tool for promoting physical and mental well-being. Being a part of this event is an honor, and I urge everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routine,” said Soma Biswas.

By commemorating 11 years of a global movement devoted to holistic health and well-being, the International Day of Yoga 2025 marks an important milestone. This year’s event confirmed the timeless value and universal relevance of yoga, with celebrations taking place at more than one lakh locations throughout India and many more worldwide.

The Ministry of Culture chose NCSM as one of the important organizations to spearhead this national effort. More than 500 people enthusiastically attended the event in Science City, Kolkata, demonstrating a strong shared commitment to promoting the age-old practice of yoga.
