The historic Town Hall hosted the presentation of a new Bengali novel, “Ullaskar“, based on the life of the renowned rebel Ullaskar Dutta. The novel, written by renowned author Debarati Mukhopadhyay, explores the romantic side of Ullaskar Dutta’s colorful life as well as the hardships faced by Bengal’s revolutionaries.

Speaking during the function, Mukhopadhyay called the book a novel of both revolution and love, emphasizing that it depicts the tumultuous period of Bengal’s liberation effort and the interwoven tales of numerous freedom fighters.

The author visited several locations for her research, including Silchar, gathering uncommon historical information and even some never-before-seen photos that are included in the book.

Readers from all around the state, including guests from Assam, Burdwan, and Murshidabad, flocked to the book launch with great enthusiasm. Overwhelmed by the positive feedback, Mukhopadhyay thanked her readers from the bottom of her heart and encouraged everyone to keep up with history.

Her message to the crowd was motivating and unambiguous. She said, “Go through books. We can better comprehend ourselves when we are aware of our past”.

The occasion celebrated Bengal’s cultural pride and revolutionary spirit in addition to the publication of a literary book.
