H.E. Mr. Xu Wei, the recently appointed Chinese Consul General in Kolkata, arrived in the city on June 1, 2024. Consul General Xu Wei was met at the airport by members of the Chinese Consulate General, the Indian Chinese community, and Chinese-funded businesses in Kolkata.

Consul General Xu Wei expressed his gratitude for his job in Kolkata, dubbed the “City of Joy” and a center of art and culture. India and China are adjacent countries joined by rivers and mountains, and five of the states in the consular districts have had cordial relations with China for a long time. In addition to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, the Consulate General will actively work to foster friendly exchanges and collaboration between China and India. This will support the healthy and stable growth of the relationship between the two countries. In the consular district, the Consulate General will keep offering top-notch consular services to Chinese nationals living abroad and businesses with Chinese funding.

The sixth Chinese Consul General in Kolkata is Consul General Xu Wei.
