A national-level conference on Autism: Womb to Cradle was organized by Nabajatak Child Development Centre and Child Development Centre, Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata.

This was announced at a press conference attended by eminent doctors.

The conference focused on the recent advancements and developments in the field of Autism. Due to a lack of skilled professionals, Autism detection from birth, despite being available in India, is done in a select few centres. This scene is changing rapidly.

The doctors stressed the importance of the first 1000 days and early intervention at the conference.

The focus of the conference was on Perinatology of Autism, Perinatology is a branch of obstetrics that focuses on foetal care and on high-risk pregnancies.

Some of the speakers at the conference were Dr. Anjan Bhattacharya, Dr. Bhaskar Pal, Dr. Atanu Bhadra, Dr. Swapan Ray, Dr. Mihir Sarkar, Dr. Indu Surana, Dr. Amit Basu, and others.

With discussions on Autism prevention strategies and early detection strategies, new avenues of treatment of Autism will surely come to the forefront.
