The Khunti Puja of the second edition of New Town Sarbojanin Durgotsab Samiti was held recently.

It was graced by the Chairman, of HIDCO and Mayor of Kolkata, Janab Firhad Hakim, Chairman of Bandhan Bank Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, eminent industrialist Harsh Neotia, Mayor of Bidhannagar Krishna Chakrabarty, Chancellor of Sister Nivedita University, Satyam Roy Choudhury, artist Shubhaprasanna, Chairman NKDA Debashis Sen, Police Commissioner of Bidhannagar Gaurav Sharma and others.

The venue of the Durga Puja is City Square New Town.

The Artist of the Puja Anirban Das has named the theme ‘Komal Gandhar’.

According to Das, the idol and the theme will be based on Kangra Valley paintings of Himachal Pradesh.

Like last year, the Khunti Puja was performed by women priests. This legacy will be followed during the Durga Puja also. Women Dhaki, and women Dhunuchi dancers also performed in the Khunti Puja.

This time, the Samiti will select women start-ups across the country through a separate event called Durga-preneur.

With Khuti Puja’s completion, New Town Sarbojanin Durgotsab Samiti is slowly gearing up to welcome the Mother Goddess.
