Nominations Announced For 4th Edition of West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Award 2020
The nominations of the 4th edition of the West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Award 2020 titled Cinemar Samabartan was announced in the presence of Prosenjit Chatterjee, Srijit Mukherji, Churni Ganguly, Gautam Jain, Nirmal Dhar, Shoma A Chatterji and others.
The theme of the award ceremony this year is Santa Clause and he will be hosting the entire Cinemar Samabartan Award Ceremony. He has been christened Cinemar Santa and will be announcing the awards.
Shoma A Chatterji shed light on the fact that the number of good films which was liked both by the critics and the audiences have increased previous year.
There will be seventeen award categories in the popular segment, eight award categories in the Technical Award segment and a Lifetime Achievement Award. This time the Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to cinematographer Soumendu Roy, most known for his work with director Satyajit Ray.
Speaking at the event, Prosenjit Chatterjee said “I received my first BFJA Award many years ago and that has always been special for me. The name may have an extra W now, but this award is special as this is given by the journalists who support us throughout the year”.
The nomination categories include Best Film, Best Director (in the memory of Late Hiralal Sen), Best Actor in leading Role, Best Music, Best Playback Singer (Male), Best Actress, Most Popular Film of the Year, Most Popular Actor of the Year and so on.
Award categories for the Technical segments are Best Screenplay, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Lyricist, Best Art Director, Best Costume Designer, Best Sound Designer and Best Makeup Artist.
Srijit Mukherji highlighted on the fact that the number of good films this year is many and the fight will be great for the nominations and also the final award.
WBFJA will be the first digitally broadcasted event of the East with platforms like Addatimes, Just news and Tollytimes airing it live.
The award ceremony will be held on the second Sunday, 12th January, 2020 from 9.30 am onward at Priya Cinema, Kolkata.
