The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) organized the NRAI Indian Restaurant Summit 2023 in Kolkata.

It indicated an important turning point in the development of the food business. This significant occasion, which started with an emphasis on innovation, inclusivity, and sustainable growth, has sparked a national movement that seeks to rethink the place of the restaurant sector in India’s economic system.


This confluence of industry titans, innovative business leaders, and culinary trailblazers will definitely be remembered as a watershed event that changed the course of the restaurant sector on the subcontinent.

The summit’s theme of “Cultivating Excellence” reverberated throughout the insightful talks it hosted, setting the groundwork for a more promising and exciting future for Indian cuisine.

The inaugural day saw the discussion on Agility is not taught; it’s acquired – the new mantra of hospitality and retail.
The summit saw the presence of guests like Sri Firhad Hakim, Hon’ble Mayor of Kolkata, Minister of Urban Development, Municipal Affairs, and Housing, Government of West Bengal, Smt. Nandini Chakravorty, IAS, Principal Secretary, Dept. of Tourism, and others.


The summit also saw discussions on Food is theatre in the Instagram world and not only taste anymore.

The summit paid homage to the past, celebrated the present, and envisioned the future with a discussion on “Indian Restauranting: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow”. 

Workshops like “Fuel up your Food Start-up”, “Can ONDC Do to Food Delivery What UPI Did to Payments,” and “Managed Compliances under Goods and Services Tax for the Restaurant and Brand Owners” were also part of the summit.

At the summit, Anandaghar was given a sum of two lakhs for its wonderful contribution to bettering the lives of the kids.

Eminent personalities like Rajiv Ghai, Deepak Puri, Sudip Mullick, Pratap Daryanani, and others were felicitated for their contribution to the food industry.

Chef Kunal Kapur, Zorawar Kalra, Vicky Ratnani, Ankur Jain (Founder & CEO, Bira), Matt Chitharanjan (Co-Founder and CEO, of Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters), and others also graced the summit.

The NRAI Indian Restaurant Summit addressed challenges and drove the nation’s culinary future to greater heights.
