Om-Mani-Padme-Hum and Svarupa&Vyakta Performed At KCC
Kolkata experienced two splendid evenings at Kolkata Center for Creativity (KCC), on the 25th and 26th of February from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Stefano Fardelli, a dancer-choreographer from Italy and the creator of the EDC-EurAsia Dance Company, is visiting Kolkata for the world premieres of his two dance productions, Om-Mani-Padme-Hum and Svarupa&Vyakta. The Italian Cultural Institute, the General Consulate of Italy, and the Kolkata Centre for Creativity have all provided assistance for the project, which was commissioned by the Berlin Dance Institute in partnership with the EurAsia Dance Project International Network.
In his most recent composition, Om Mani Padme Hum, Stefano concentrated on the rites and history of Tibetan Buddhists of the Yellow Hat Order, particularly those that have a relationship with Shaolin monks. The title, which means “honoring the lotus jewel,” is drawn from Sanskrit.
The performance was staged by Umberto Gesi (Italy), Tejaswini Loundo (India), Marco Hernandez (Mexico), and Jesus Rea (Bolivia).
