Musical Band The Yellow Diary who has made a name for themselves with their music was in Kolkata for performing at an event. Post the event, The Kolkata Mail correspondent caught up with the band members in an exclusive chat about their songs and their future plans as a band. Excerpts..

How did the band come together?

The Yellow Diary- Rajan and Himonshu met in 2015 in a professional capacity and it is then they decided to collaborate with each other. They worked on Marz. Then they got Vaibhav to join the band as the guitarist. He was then pursuing his IT career. After the song was well received by the audience, they decided to take the music live. Then Sahil and Stuart joined the band and the band became a five member band. They also received applause from eminent musicians like Vishal Dadlani and others. Hence they understood they were doing the right thing and decided to make it a full time band.

How was the experience of performing in Kolkata?

The Yellow Diary- We had performed in Kolkata before at a club. But this time it was a college gig and the energy level of the audience was awesome. They knew the songs and they kept repeating it with us. So that made it very special.

What is next in store for you as a band?

The Yellow Diary- We will be releasing our music video for the song Rab Raakha. NUJS was the last gig of the first part of the tour to promote the song. After the song is out, we will be promoting the music video. That is our short term goal for now.

Two to three new songs will be out this year if things go as we planned.

What is your USP as a band?

The Yellow Diary- We are “Awesome Together”. Our USP is staying together.
