P.B. Chaki’s Lockdown Film Laptop Screened at 26th KIFF

The press meet of the film Laptop took place at 26th Kolkata International Film Festival. Gracing the press conference was Rituparna Sengupta, director Premendu Bikash Chaki and Sudeshna Roy.

This is a film that has been made during the lockdown. The story of the film revolves around Baisakhi and Indra, a married couple who lives abroad. Indra comes to Kolkata for a short vacation leaving Baisakhi alone. Indra gets stuck in Kolkata due to the sudden lockdown. Baisakhi loses her job and feels lonely in a foreign country. The distance between the two widens and gives rise to differences. A laptop later helps them to bridge this gap and aid in better communication.

Rituparna Sengupta said “I was excited that we could do a shooting during the lockdown. My daughter helped me a lot during shooting the film. I was staying in Singapore at that time with my children. It was a great opportunity to shoot a film during the lockdown on my mobile. This was a rare experience for me”.

The director said that we experimented with the fact that a film could be shot even on a smartphone. “Though we shot the film from different places, this was a great experience that we amassed during this lockdown,” said the director.

The film has been directed by Premendu Bikash Chaki and produced by Rituparna Sengupta and Premendu Bikash Chaki.

There is one song in the film. Prithwish Bandyopadhyay has written the lyrics of the song while the song has been sung by Raghab Chatterjee.

The editor of the film is Md Kalam.

The duration of the film is 25 minutes.
