A biopic on the life of veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee was announced recently. The title of the film is Abhijaan.

Jisshu Sengupta will play the role of younger Soumitra while the actor himself will play himself at his age.

Parambrata Chatterjee will don the role of the director’s hat for this film. He took to social media to announce the film.

The making of the film began when Parambrata received offer from his co-producers and a doctor who is a resident of New Jersey. The doctor was in charge of translating the prose works of Soumitra Chatterjee into English. So they came up with the idea of making something this like this. And after this, Parambrata took three months time to decide whether he will continue with the proposition. So the director thought that Soumitra Chatterjee’s life can be viewed from a different perspective and not just a legendary film actor from Bengal.

Director Q will be seen in the role of Satyajit Ray while Paoli Dam will be seen in the role of Suchitra Sen. Rudranil Ghosh will be seen in the role of Robi Ghosh and Sohini Sarkar will essay the role of Madhabi Mukherjee.

The film will show Soumitra Chatterjee not only as actor but also as a poet, the stage actor, the playwright and his definition of an artiste.

The film will indeed be interesting as this will be a tribute to the legend from one of the finest actors of Bengal, Parambrata Chatterjee.
