Switzerland as a tourist destination has multiple things to offer. This has led to Indian tourists travelling to this place in bigger numbers. A press conference was organized to address what new things the country has to offer to the tourists. Mr Claudio Zemp, Director-Switzerland Tourism India and Ms Ritu Sharma, Deputy Director, Switzerland Tourism India addressed the press conference.

Switzerland’s increasing number of Indian overnights can be attributed to Ranveer Singh’s becoming the brand ambassador of the country in August 2016.

As per the numbers that they have gathered to understand market trends 2018, there is an increase in the number of travellers from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. More travellers stay in apartments and visit the country during Autumn season. There is an increase in experiential travellers. Apart from young travellers, old travellers have also increased.

Some of the goals that the country has in future to draw more tourists is to increase overnight stay, increase individual tourism, promote the country as an all year destination, promote winter as a holiday season and diversify portfolio of destination.

Swiss Travel Pass is an all in one ticket valid on all modes on public transportation. The four day pass will cost Rs 20000 and the eight day pass will cost Rs 30000. Swiss International Airlines have introduced Stopover Switzerland program which enables travellers to stop in Switzerland in 3-4 days on their way to any other place. This gives travellers the chance to visit the country without having to pay anything extra for airfare.
