For more than 60 years, the Lions Club of Howrah, a forerunner club in Kolkata, has participated in a variety of charitable and service endeavors. More than 26000 beneficiaries benefit annually from their seven ongoing projects, which include two hospitals, a blood bank, a school for the deaf and the dumb, a first aid center at Howrah Station, Gandhi Park in Howrah, a bus shelter, etc.

The main goals of these hospitals are to offer top-notch healthcare to the underprivileged and impoverished members of society at reasonable costs, or even for free when necessary. The Howrah Lions Club members and the society’s well-wishers and donors make up the difference. Every year, they invest close to Rs 2.5–3 crore in all of their charitable endeavors.

Howrah Lions Hospitals provides facilities like IOL operations, general surgery, orthopedics, laparoscopy, an eighteen-bed dialysis unit, dental, X-ray, pathology, generic medicines, Naturopathy etc. They also have an ambulance and bus for the patient.

They will be organizing a poetical fundraising program “Jana Gana Mana” featuring Dr. Kumar Vishwas in aid of both hospitals on Sunday, 13th August 2023 from 5 pm at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, New Town.
