A political reporter working for a major daily in Kolkata discovered an intriguing tale about a woman who, in the 1980s, went from being a common housewife to a notorious lady mafia gang leader in Shibpur, where she ruled for many years before going missing in the late 1990s and was never found. After much violence, the district finally experienced stability thanks to an IPS officer who had been recruited by the then-CM to handle the law and order situation. But, the woman has since disappeared. Was she murdered by members of her rival organizations, or was a shady political plot at work? This is the story of the upcoming Bengali film Shibpur.

Shibpur is directed by Arindam Bhattacharya.

The lead cast consists of Mamata Shankar, Parambrata Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Susmita Chatterjee,  Rajatava Dutta, Kharaj Mukherjee, and Sujan Neel Mukhopadhyay.

The movie is produced by Sandeep Sarkar & Ajanta Sinha Roy of Indo-Americana Production.

Sujay Dutta Roy is the editor while Sulagna Chowdhury has done the costume.

Prasenjit Choudhury is the DOP of Shibpur.

Shibpur is releasing on 5th May 2023.
