The poster and trailer launch of Parikrama, a film by director Goutam Ghose, took place recently.

Gracing the occasion were the director, Mamata Shankar, Arijit Dutta, and other eminent guests.

An Italian man and a teenage migrant boy who were working on a documentary about the Narmada river pilgrimage are the subjects of the film. “Parikrama” focuses on topics like environmental harm, ecological threats, and the struggle for survival.  

Goutam Ghose said, “I do films when a certain incident or a life experience or a novel inspires me. It is then that I make a film. Many things have been lost due to the Narmada River. The kids I met at that place were happy and had a great sense of humor. They are not vulgar and have an intelligent sense of humor. It comes from native wisdom. The film is a celebration of life and a celebration of hope.

On choosing Arijit Dutta for the film, the director said, “I saw him with a long beard and hair during the pandemic. I could see a character from my film in him. So I asked him to maintain the look. Though I was not aware when I could start the shoot of the film again. However, he did maintain the look, and I am grateful to him for that”.

Arijit Dutta said, “We have lost the directors who used to make urban genre films. Only Goutam Ghose remains from that genre. These films used to have 4 shows and run for twenty weeks. Now we do not have such shows for a film. So it has changed quite a lot”.

Mamata Shankar, who launched the trailer, said, “It is a great honor for me to launch the trailer. I had done a film with Goutam da. We had plans of doing another film together, but it never got made as I had back pain. So the doctor did not allow me to do the film. I had watched Raahgir, and it was one of the best films I have watched in my life. I hope that the film releases soon. After watching the trailer of this film, I am looking forward to watching the film”.

The cast of the film consists of Chitrangada Singh, Marco Leonardi, Enzo Decaro, and others.

The film is slated for release on the 27^th of June.
