Press Meet To Announce United Interfaith Foundation, India
Religious leaders and community heads came together in Kolkata to promote peace, harmony and universal brotherhood by forming an Interfaith group titled United Interfaith Foundation, India.
A press meet was organized to announce this initiative in the presence of Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, Imran Zaki, The Most Rev Thomas D’Souza, Archbishop of Kolkata, Gurbux Singh and others.
The group aims to work on sharing information, supporting and advising people about religions, promoting and increasing engagement in Inter faith Dialogue and learning, introducing, creating awareness about different religions in schools and other such institutions.
The group will help in strengthening interfaith dialogue and help in developing mutual understanding as important elements of peaceful co-existence in society.
Some of the prominent religious figures and representatives of various committees in the group are His Grace Most Rev Thomas D ‘ Souza (Archbishop of Kolkata), Gurbux Singh, Jimmy Tangri (Parsi Community), Terence Ireland (Representation from CNI), O P Shah (Senior Activist), Rajesh Arora (Social worker), Mahesh Malkani (President Eastern Sindhi Society) and many others.
In recent times, it has become extremely important to preserve peace and face contemporary threats together. Forming such a group will help in fostering the much needed peace among the people in society.
