Press Meet To Discuss Methods of Combating Second Wave of Covid-19
India has entered the second wave of COVID. Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital (JIMSH) organized a virtual press conference with eminent doctors to discuss the important step required to be taken by the public and hospitals to combat the second wave of COVID in an efficient manner.
Dr. Biswaroop Mukherjee, Associate Professor, General Medicine, JIMSH, Dr. Kaushik Hazra, MD – Assistant Professor, General Medicine, JIMSH, Dr. V. Lakshman, MS – Associate Professor, General Surgery, JIMSH, Dr. Debapriya Banerjee, Senior Consultant JIMSH along with Mr. Jagannath Gupta, Chairman of JIMHS, Mr. K.K Gupta, Vice Chairman of JIMSH and Shayantani Datta Manager- Operations and Quality Assurance were present during the virtual press meet.
States like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka are already hard hit by the second wave and a total number of active cases is around 5, 80,000 the country, people of West Bengal are actively taking part in election campaigns and rallies in large numbers, defying all social distancing norms. This carelessness amidst political rallies and campaigns is bound to increase the spread of infection unless taken care of.
While addressing the Media, Mr. K.K Gupta, Vice Chairman of JIMSH said that no individual must do self-medication. They must consult the family physician if they experience symptoms like weakness, loss of smell, or diarrhea.
Dr. Biswaroop Mukherjee, Associate Professor, General Medicine JIMSH highlighted the fact that people must practice social distancing, continue using sanitizers, wear masks every time they go outside. The doctors also felt that election campaigns might lead to the rapid spread of the pandemic and the government must impose strict social distancing rules during the campaigns.
