Actress Rachel White turns into an entrepreneur with the launch of the salon “The Vanity”. The one stop destination for hair and skin care, nail spa and nail extension and makeup services is located at Uniworld City, Downtown Mall, Block C 102, New Town, Rajarhat, Action Area 3, Kolkata – 700016.

The 600 square foot salon has been created with the theme of vanity van where women and men can feel pampered, cozy and special in a friendly environment.

Rachel who is passionate about hair and beauty went on to finalize a place in 2011. But she got cold feet at the last moment and dropped the idea of starting her own business. She believes that there is a time for everything to happen in life. And now in this digital age when an individual need not have to be present everywhere physically, she found it the right time to plunge into business.

She felt that Rajarhat with its residential and office spaces needed a good salon and this will provide the patrons with a viable option to get themselves pampered.

The Vanity has services like facials, manicure, pedicure, hair treatments and colour, nail art and much more starting from Rs 900 onwards. Open every day from 11am to 8.30pm, the salon also has a special offer called “The Lunch Break” where corporate professionals and students can get a discount on showing their ID proofs.

Talking about her own beauty regimen, Rachel said that regular facials and hair spa is important because constant hair products used while shooting leaves the hair damaged. Heat from hairstyling during shoots gave her recurring problems with split ends. So she made it a point to trim her hair at least once a month. Regular hair masks and a night cream are also on her to-do-list.

What are her beauty tips for monsoon? For monsoons she usually uses a lightweight serum during the day for her face and skin. Make up should be matte finish, waterproof and very minimal, just limited to a BB cream, little concealing if required, a waterproof liner and mascara and some lip balm or gloss. For hair, she makes sure to keep her scalp clean and oil free to avoid the oiliness and frizz. She fully dries her hair and follows it up with an anti-frizz serum. She usually prefers tied hairstyles during monsoon as it is easier to manage.
