Ratnas Subhashree And Jhulan Goswami Graces Countdown For The Tata Steel Kolkata 25K
Due to the pandemic, the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K could not be organized in the city. However, with things returning to a normal pace, the much-awaited marathon will happen in Kolkata this year.
The countdown for the 2022 Tata Steel Kolkata 25K took place in the presence of Ratnas Jhulan Goswami, Subhashree Ganguly, and other eminent guests.
The SEIKO Race Clock was unveiled at the event to mark the seventh edition of Eastern India’s biggest running festival.
Eminent tennis player Mary Pierce is the International Event Ambassador.
The participants in this marathon will go past iconic places of the city like Raj Bhavan, the Eden Gardens, under the Howrah Railway Bridge over the Hooghly River, Fort Williams Golf Course, and the Victoria Memorial before coming back to the Red Road finishing line.
Speaking at the event, Subhashree said “Running has been very helpful for me during my pregnancy and post-pregnancy to shed weight and regain my fitness. I had a C-section and hence could not lift weights. Running was extremely effective and helped me to regain my fitness in no time”.
The different categories in which the participants can take part include the 25K, open 10K, Ananda Run (4.5K), Senior Citizens’ Run (2.3K), and the Champions with Disability (2.3K).
The registrations will be open till 9th December at https://tatasteelkolkata25k.procam.in/.
The confirmed participants will each get a goodie bag at the Expo in addition to the running bib. The 25K participants will get a Race Day Tee.
Jhulan Goswami said “This is a wonderful initiative and I have never run on the roads before. This will be a unique experience for me as I will be part of the Ananda Run. Running has been integral to my life as I have been a professional athlete. If I did not run, my fitness would be hampered and that would harm the entire team”.
The 25K and 10K finishers will each receive a medal and a timing certificate. The Ananda Run participants will receive a participation medal and a certificate. The Champions with Disability and Senior Citizens’ Run participants will receive a participation certificate.
The race has a fund of USD 100, 000 as prize money.
The 2022 Tata Steel Kolkata 25K will take place on 18th December.
