In honor of International Women’s Day, RBL Bank has presented 100 bicycles to underprivileged girl children in Kolkata as part of their CSR program, UMEED 1000.

The Bank held the donation drive in the presence of Dr. Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister-in-charge, Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare and Department of Industry, Commerce and Enterprises, Prof. Leena Gangopadhyay, Chairperson, West Bengal Commission for Women, Ms. Krishna Chakraborty, Mayor, Bidhan Nagar Municipal Corporation, Ms. Sanghamitra Ghosh, Principal Secretary, Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare and senior representatives from RBL Bank.

When the girls gathered at FD Block, Sector 3, Bidhannagar to receive the bicycles, they showed great joy. With the assistance of the West Bengal Commission for Women and the district magistrates of South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, and North 24 Parganas, Kolkata, the Bank immediately identified the beneficiaries.

Distance is one of the main causes of school abandonment among kids. With the help of this program, more people will have access to much-needed transportation for getting to school. The bicycles will make it possible for the girl students to commute to school in a way that is both environmentally responsible and energy-efficient. The Bank is distributing over 1000 bicycles and school supplies throughout India, including in Kolkata, Hyderabad, Raipur, Chennai, Kolhapur, Guwahati, Siliguri, and Goa.
