Richa Ahluwalia’s Weddings Of India- Homage To India’s Rich Legacy
Kolkata saw the launch of Richa Ahluwalia, a stunning couture bridal design house, on its customized journey. In the ‘Weddings of India’ collection, which pays homage to India’s rich cultural legacy, the brand hopes to capture its essence, inspired by the timeless elegance and sophistication of bygone eras.
The collection showcases the rich cultural heritage and design heritage of Banaras, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Lucknow, derived from their artisanal expertise. Every piece is a work of art, expertly fusing traditional charm with modern appeal, and is enhanced by elaborate karigari made by craftspeople in Kolkata. Because of this mix, it’s a great option for both the wedding party and older audiences looking for understated elegance.
The women’s costume is a regal picture, with vivid hues ranging from sindoori red to eye-catching powder pink, pearl, and olive tones, all delicately accented with gold. The collection features exotic lehengas, shararas, kurta sets, blouses, anarkalis, and sarees adorned with embroideries such as gotapatti, zardosi, dabka, angorkar patterns, and mukaish work. These pieces exquisitely enhance the textures of raw silk, velvet, silk georgette, and chanderi materials.
The men’s range has lengthy yokes adorned with elaborate handcrafted patterns that evoke the grandeur of the Mughal Empire. This amazing range of products includes waistcoats, achkans with peacock and diamond motifs that are incredibly eye-catching in their plum and red hues, as well as the delicate nude and ivory in velvet, raw silk, dupion silk, and bandhgala jackets made of opulent matka silk.
“There is no better way for us to introduce the brand to the world than in the heart of Kolkata, a city known for its cultural heritage. We are pleased to introduce our brand in this hub of culture. Being more than just a choice for the engaged couple is not our only objective. We want to become known as a family-friendly couture destination where we carefully cater to each member’s demands and pay special attention to the sophisticated tastes of older audiences that are frequently disregarded in the couture world” said Richa Ahluwalia, Founder and Creative Director.
“I am more focused on the old world charm. Hence you can see that the designs in the collection are not modern but very traditional. This has not limited my clientele as many would think. Many brides now look for old designs- that showcase our rich tradition and heritage” added Richa Ahluwalia.
The price range starts from Rs 40, 000 and goes up to Rs 15 lakhs.
The collection is available on richaahluwalia.com.
The brand anticipates the opening of its flagship store in early 2024 in New Delhi.
