A press conference was organized to announce the cast of the upcoming Bengali film Shikarr directed by Debraj Sinha.

Gracing the occasion were the director, and cast members Rituparna Sengupta, Nusrat Jahan, Yash Dasgupta, and producer Mukesh Kumar Pandey.

The film is of the thriller genre.

Rituparna Sengupta will be seen in the role of a single mother and a government official. The story is set in the backdrop of a village. Yash’s character takes care of the well-being of the people in the village. Nusrat will be seen in the role of his lover.

The director remained tight-lipped about who will be the hunter and who will be the hunted in this film. Since this is a thriller, he did not want to give in much to the content of the film. He hinted that the audience will get to see a serious topic in this thriller film.

Speaking at the event, Rituparna Sengupta said “The content of the film is very serious. However, the presentation will adhere to the commercial films. I am a product of commercial films myself. And to make a film that is commercial just like the old days is indeed a great step. I had worked with both Yash and Nusrat before and it will indeed be amazing to see how this film shapes up”.

Most of the newcomers who had acted opposite Rituparna Sengupta achieved great success in the film industry. Yash said “I am trying to act even when I grow old. Hence I am acting opposite Rituparna Sengupta in the hope that she rubs her charm on me again. With her Midas touch, I want to be more successful in the future”.

Nusrat mentioned that it was indeed wonderful that she will be working with Rituparna Sengupta and Yash in this thriller film. “Commercial films need to be made in Bengal. Makers must come forth with real stories that can be presented in the commercial format. Films will be larger than life. And that has been the notion that audiences have loved to date” said the actress.

The film is written by Debraj Sinha.

There will be three songs in the film. Out of which one will be an item number.

The shooting of the film will begin in March.
