Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee and filmmaker Atanu Ghosh have joined hands for their next project Shesh Pata. The poster of the film was released recently.

The protagonist of Shesh Pata is 58-year-old renowned author Balmiki, who now lives in obscurity without respect or dignity. His wife was murdered thirty years ago, and a publishing business paid him a forty thousand rupee advance to write about her. Balmiki has refused to give even a single page of the text, despite numerous requests. The publishing business hires Sounak, a young debt recovery agent, to reclaim the writing. Balmiki informs Sounak that his health prevents him from writing independently. Now, Sounak hires Medha, a woman in her middle age, to record what Balmiki says. It is not simple to help Balmiki with his writing. He soon throws Medha into disarray since he is moody, evasive, and impetuous. Balmiki, Medha, and Sounak are in for a special voyage as they pursue different objectives. However, the last page of the writing of Balmiki has a lot of surprises.

Atanu Ghosh said, “You can become debt-free by paying off your loan. That is a widely used adage. But debt or borrowing is not limited to monetary obligations. The three main themes of the movie are debt, debt repayment, and the sense of liberation that results from debt. The film examines the psychological and emotional effects of debt and how they impact both the lender and the borrower. Additionally, I was drawn to studying the mental and emotional health of a troubled author who can only reclaim his lost honor and dignity by paying back a great loan”.

The character, an elderly novelist who has endured terrible suffering in life, veers sharply from utter frustration and helpless rage to sensitive vulnerability and profound humanism. It was an exciting challenge to control a character with so many nuances and layers of hues and tones while evoking depth, emotion, and sensitivity in believable ways” said Prosenjit Chatterjee.
