Riya is a well-known brand in the nation today and is a leader in the perfume market. Riya was founded in 1997, and it has taken an unusual path to becoming India’s top-selling perfume brand. The company, which is currently run by Aditya Vikram Daga, was formed in Kolkata 25 years ago by Mr. N K Daga and Mr. L K Soni. The brand’s goal, which it has upheld for a very long time, was to offer top-notch perfumes at reasonable costs to every home in India from the very beginning.

Riya is not just for urban areas; tier 1, 2, and 3 markets have also received attention. Although Riya has a competitive price, the quality is never sacrificed. Because of this, Riya stands out from other brands. It’s interesting that it never paid for advertising. In the past 25 years, the people of India have embraced Riya for its distinctive smell and top-notch quality.

“I grew up in a home where my father used to talk about perfumes, its procedures, and numerous experiments with the scent and aroma,” said Aditya Vikram Daga, Founder & CEO of Purpose Planet. “We have become accustomed to the smell of many perfumes since we were little. I developed a strong interest in the industry as I got older. I have been officially working with Riya for the past three years, but I have spent the previous six years trying to understand the numerous intricacies of the industry. I choose to join the family business of perfume after graduating from London Business School in 2019 rather than looking for a job in any other MNCs. Now, I am trying to restructure, diversify and lead to the growth of the business” added Aditya Vikram Daga.

Future Expansion Plans

Purpose Planet was founded in 2019 with headquarters in Kolkata and New Delhi to restructure, diversify, and expand the Riya brand. The brand sells air fresheners, room fresheners, deodorants, and perfumes. They are dedicated to growing their company and have plans to diversify their revenue streams and venture into new industries; these plans will be made public in due course. There are also some plans for e-shopping.

Riya is certified as the Perfume Segment Leader in India by Value Share

Riya was recognized as the Perfume Segment Leader in India by Value Share, according to the Nielson IQ Retail Audit Report from January to December 2021. In the last three years, Riya’s market share by value has increased. With an MS value of 10.8% in YEC 2021, it outperformed urban India, based on the comments over the past few quarters, and is ahead of other prominent players where Riya has a significant concentration. According to Nielsen IQ, Riya perfumes are high-quality goods that have been ranked top in value sales in the Perfume area. The “Grocers, General Stores, Chemists, Cosmetic Stores, Paan Plus Stores, and Modern Trade Stores” are included in the retail index service.
