This Durga Puja, Bingo! Tedhe Medhe pays a heartfelt tribute to 50 glorious years of Bengali rock music. The brand released the ‘Rockanjali’ song, composed and performed by renowned Bengali rock musicians: Siddhartha Sankar Roy (Siddhu) & Avijit Burman (Pota) from Cactus, Gaurab Chatterjee (Gabu) from Lakkhichara, and Anindya Chatterjee from Chandrabindoo. This musical tribute from Bingo! Tedhe Medhe not only celebrates the cultural significance of Bengali rock but also highlights the power of friendships and bonding, themes that resonate deeply with the spirit of Durga Puja.

The song “Rockanjali” captures the spirit of Bengali rock and serves as an inspiration to a new wave of music enthusiasts. It provides a potent reflection of the last 50 years and pays homage to the genre’s significant influence on Bengali art and culture.

To encourage and establish a connection with their core customers, Bingo! Tedhe Medhe introduced the “Rockanjali” competition, which provides a stage for upcoming, gifted musicians to perform and honor the tradition of Bengali rock music on Durga Puja. More than 120 students from several colleges in Kolkata entered the competition, all vying to be in the top 15 bands. During the festival, these finalists will play in front of thousands of people at some of the most famous Durga Puja pandals in the city, offering them a once-in-a-lifetime chance to do so. As part of the “Rockanjali Pujo Tour” Kolkata will host a “Concert on wheels” for the first time ever.

The tour will visit six famous Durga Puja pandals throughout the city over six days, from Chaturthi to Navami, spreading the energy of Bangla rock far and wide.

“Bengali rock has always been about expressing the deepest emotions of our people—our struggles, our joy, our friendships. The Rockanjali song pays homage to the essence of Bengali rock and its supporters who have sustained it for half a century. It was written in partnership with Bingo! Tedhe Medhe. Being a part of this production with so many well-known voices is an honor” said singer and composer Anindya Chatterjee.

Sidhu said that the project was a great team effort between members of different bands. It reminded him of his earlier days.

Bingo! Tedhe Medhe’s Rockanjali was created by fusing culture, music, and competitiveness. Rockanjali by Tedhe Medhe is expected to offer a singular experience that will connect with the city’s cultural pathways and leave a lasting impression. The song will pave the path for Bengal’s future rock stars and act as a bridge for the younger generation of musicians.
