The culmination of the Merlin Green frames Nature Photography campaign, which raised awareness about protecting the environment and living in harmony with it, was a grand award ceremony held in Kolkata at Merlin Aquaville, which is close to Ibiza the Fern Resort & Spa. The campaign intends to use photography to present stories that will help people connect with their natural surroundings and become more engaged in its preservation.

The two-day class and event drew in over 40 amateur photographers and nature lovers. Participants gathered from far-off places like Hooghly, Singur, Barasat, Behala, Nagerbazar, and Baguihati to photograph nature’s richness. In addition to the photographic competition, Mr. Saroj Dora, a knowledgeable specialist from Sony India, led interactive seminars.

In addition to serving as a mentor and judge for the Merlin Green Frames competition, Pubarun Basu also led a workshop to teach photographers new camera skills and methods.

The winners in the different categories are as follows:

Alize Suzuki under the category “Landscape: Co-existence of man and nature” won first prize and Pritha Roy won the second prize.

Suman Banerjee under the category “Macro” won first prize, and Arindam Santra won the second prize.

Pallav Roy Choudhury under the category “Birds: Their habits and habitats” won first prize and Pradipta Moulik won the second prize.

Raaqueen Majeed under the category “Blend of nature & Architect, – Host Award” won first prize.

Abhisek Paul under the category “Flora & Fauna” won first prize and Soumalya Das won the second prize.

Arindam Santra under the category “Life in Action” won first prize and Alize Suzuki won the second prize.

Pallav Roy Choudhury won the overall prize.

Pubarun Basu, an award-winning young photographer, and Bisakha Datta, a nature photographer adjudged the winners.

Gracing the occasion was renowned actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty who shared with the audience a vivid narrative of his wildlife photography days. Sabyasachi Chakraborty also visited the exhibition on selected nature photographs clicked by the contestants along with director Arindam Sil and Actor, Director Parambrata Chattopadhyay.

This will be turned into a coffee table book that will be distributed to the public and contain picked images.
