Eveready Industries has partnered with social activist and actor Ritabhari Chakraborty on a mission-driven project that brings together innovation and campaigning for the safety and security of deaf children. Students at the Ideal School for the Deaf were introduced to Eveready’s Siren Torch, a revolutionary solution that goes beyond simple functioning, as part of the program. Through this partnership, deaf children will be equipped with a tool that improves their safety and gives them a sense of security from a young age, enabling them to confidently face obstacles in life.

People who are deaf frequently experience particular obstacles, such as trouble fitting in with society’s norms and feeling safe in their surroundings. As a result, Eveready created the revolutionary Siren Torch, a product that is especially meant to give vulnerable populations a safety net. In an emergency, the user pulls the associated key chain on the Siren Torch, setting off a loud 100dbA safety alert. This feature makes sure that anyone who is in danger can call for assistance and get noticed quickly. For children who are deaf, this tool is a creative way to break the taboo around safety and a source of empowerment that makes them feel more secure and capable in their everyday interactions.

Ritabhari has been the foster guardian of 84 children at the Ideal School for the Deaf since she was sixteen.

“Being a foster guardian to these children has been the most fulfilling experience of my life. I have seen their tremendous struggles as well as their amazing fortitude and resiliency. More than just a tool, the Siren Torch gives individuals the ability to speak up even in situations when they are unable to do so. Being a part of a project that guarantees their security and inspires them to pursue their dreams with confidence because they are safe makes me very happy” said the actress.

A 100-decibel alarm built inside the Eveready Siren Torch makes it simple to call for assistance in an emergency, especially when there is violence or a personal threat. The torch is a multipurpose safety item that has a brilliant LED flashlight in addition to a deafening siren. The Siren Torch offers a dependable and efficient approach for deaf people to signal for help, as they might not have easy access to other conventional means of notifying others.

Eveready’s project not only caters to the needs of marginalized communities but also fosters a broader cultural shift toward safety and inclusivity. The goal is apparent: to guarantee that all individuals, irrespective of their capabilities, possess the resources required to feel safe and secure in their surroundings.
